We don’t want anyone falling through the gaps

We are in unprecedented times when it comes to state and federal funds for healthcare, and we, the Friends of Public Health believe that all persons deserve affordable access to quality healthcare.

When we saw the budget cuts coming, we decided to see if we could lessen the predictable harm these cuts will do to the most vulnerable in the community—those struggling to make ends meet, kids, young families, the elderly, the disabled.

When the health of the most vulnerable fail, the entire community feels the loss and the pain. Our children notice their classmates missing or unwell. The young farm family you bought from at last year’s farmer’s market isn’t there anymore. The elderly couple across the street is having to choose between their heart medicine and groceries. The anxiety hangs over our neighborhoods.

It doesn’t have to be that way if we together—all of us—give what we can to counteract the current disastrous reduction in governmental resources.

We want a Public Health Department that provides a high standard of care to everyone who needs it at their publicly-run clinics.

We invite any individual, organization, or business that values a healthy community to support Friends of Public Health.

Our Mission

Friends of Public Health raises funds for the patient-focused care provided by employees of the Public Health Department of Jefferson County, Washington. This patient-focused care includes, but is not limited to, Jefferson County School-Based Health Clinics, Senior Foot Care Clinics, Sexual and Reproductive Health Clinics, Harm Reduction Support, and Teen Resilience Programs.

Friends of Public Health operates as a Fund of Interest of the Jefferson Community Foundation, and all donations are fully tax deductible. The funds we raise move directly from the Friends of Public Health Fund to the Jefferson County Washington Public Health Department without review or grant process.

Friends of Public Health also seeks out grants, organizes meetings, and engages in other such activities that the Board deems helpful in support of the Public Health Department of Jefferson County.
