Our Board

  • Andy Fallat

Andy comes to the Friends of Public Health from a career in health care institution management.  He enjoyed matching patient needs with clinical skills and resources provided by both public and private resources.  But his greatest satisfaction came when underlying community problems were identified and the community came together with creative solutions. He believes that spirit is alive in East Jefferson County.

  • Angela Gyurko

Angela knew nothing about healthcare when she joined Jefferson County’s Citizens for Healthcare Access (a Local 20/20 Action Group) in 2016. The federal administration was trying to end programs that provided healthcare for her friends, and she was determined to do something about it. A former bureaucrat, Angela dove into reading legislation, Supreme Court rulings, and insurance company policies to understand how our nation’s healthcare system got into the mess that currently exists. She enjoys finding practical solutions to policy problems.

Our Volunteers

No one creates meaningful change alone. Many of these volunteers participated in the first fundraising drive back in 2018-2019, one that was intended solely to make up for federal cuts to the national Title X low-cost birth control program.

We are grateful to all our volunteers who have helped us expand the organization’s reach, and we look forward to the day when everyone, regardless of political party or affiliation, views healthcare as a public good worthy of full funding.

With the support and the direction of longtime community activist, Linda Martin, the following individuals volunteered during the 2025-2026 Friends of Public Health Fundraising Campaign:

Linda Brewster

Sasha Kaplan
Liz Moore
Ruth Ross
Deb Schaak
